"Your Life on Earth" Personal Philosophy Project
Reflection:
Paragraph 1 Project description
Throughout this project, we learned about philosophy and discovered are own personal philosophies, for me this was about technology and nature. We have an addiction with technology and because of this causes us to lose focus to what is going on around us. This can destroy friendships, relationships and more. We need to find a place and a time to disconnect with technology to reconnect with ourselves and the world around us, for me this is in nature. I chose to write about this because I can see it becoming an issue with our generation, constantly on our phones.
Paragraph 2 New insights
During the duration of this project I discovered more about philosophy. In the beginning of the project I found I really didn’t know much about philosophy. This project helped me to understand it more and develop my own personal philosophy. When we were learning more about current philosophies I found I didn’t really connect with many of them. I found I connected with the nature philosophy. This philosophy was the idea that “nature bathing” is good for you. It was found there are chemicals in the plants and trees that are produced that reduce stress and anxiety. I wasn’t really surprised by this at all I find that I connected with this. I then continued it on with this when I realized that people have a serious addiction with technology. This is when I took my project in the direction of disconnecting from technology and nature bathing. This is how I disconnect from technology and reconnect with myself and the world around.
Paragraph 3 Further questions and intellectual work left to do
After completing my philosophy project, it has left me with a few questions. First, what is it with the wilderness that draws so many people to it? Is there some kind of deep connection that we have with the world? Are there other potential benefits to “nature bathing?”

Disconnect to Reconnect
Nature is and always has been my favorite place to get away and think. The peace and quiet, the gentle breeze rolling through the trees, leaving you with the sweet smell of the pine. You don’t have to worry or stress about the rest of your life, you live in the moment and take in your surroundings. We don’t have to worry about missing that phone call for work or the email you need to respond to. However, technology is and will continue to be helpful to the human kind but there are times that we need to disconnect from technology and reconnect with each other and ourselves. Technology has been found to increase the amount of stress in our lives, which is just another reason to disconnect from technology and reconnect with the world.
My art piece is about technology and the addiction that we have with it. I wrote on the pins “Wander Where the Wifi is Weak.” I chose to write this because we need to find a places and time to disconnect from technology, that could be leaving your phone at home for a day or going backpacking out into the wilderness for 2 weeks. I put the mountains in as the background of the pin because that is where I go to disconnect, I go camping, hiking or biking. I also put the picture of a wifi signal and put the “no” sign over it to symbolize no wifi or the disconnection we should have. I chose to do this because we have an addiction with technology. We can’t bare to leave our phones behind for even a day and by doing this we replace our face to face connection with our screens. We text people rather than call. We play games on our phones. We check social media while eating. We get on our phone while hanging out with friends. We sleep with our phones right next to us. Instead of that WE need to find time to disconnect and reconnect.
Deconstructing America: Rhetoric, Ideology and the Democratic experiment
This project was about learning to debate. We started by going over rhetoric and how to use it effectivly and how to use it responsibly. We learned how it was used in our history and how there are diffrent ways it can be used. By diving into this deeper we learned how people choose what they believe in and how their experiences shape their opinon. Part of the reason we did this project was to learn to think for ourselves and do large amounts of research into a specific issue. Doing this project really helped open up their eyes.
